The Welsh Springer Spaniel is not as common as its close cousin the English Springer Spaniel. The Springer Spaniels were used to "spring" forward at game to flush it out for the net, falcon or hound and latter the gun. Their tails wag faster as they get nearer to the quarry. They have an excellent scenting nose and love the water.
They have a lovely nature but can be a little headstrong and do require firm but not harsh training to help keep them under control. They are extremely boisterous at times and are not always suited for the elderly or families with very young children.

Grooming- regular brushing will keep the coat looking good and wash them when needed.

Exercise- they needed plenty of exercise to keep them fit and happy. Swimming would be a great form of exercise for them as well as regular walks and off lead running.

Health- This breed can suffer from ear infections and also hip dysplasia and eye problems.
