Colour: Black or black/tan, grey or grey/tan, brown or gold.

Coat: Outercoat - Straight & Harsh. Undercoat - Thick & soft .

Features: Large sized body, broad head with almond shaped eyes & ears that flop to the side of the head. Tail coated & curls up & over onto the back.

Temperament: Affectionate, Loyal, Aloof

Lifespan: 12 yrs

The Tibetan Mastiff is from the old Asian Mastiff family and it is believed that the Tibetan Mastiff was of a larger size back then, than it is today. They were used for guarding as they have a very strong protective instinct.
They are very slow to mature, taking up to age 3-4 years. They are easy to train as their desire to please is high and they have excellent memories. They enjoy dog obedience classes and learn quickly, however they can become bored with repitition, so you need to change their training routine regularly
They do make lovely family companions.

Grooming- regular brushing is needed to keep the dead hair out of the coat. Bath when necessary.

Exercise- regular exercise is needed to keep them fit and happy.
