The Rottweiler comes down from
the Asian mastiff family.
In the town of Rottweil; southern Germany they were used to drive
stock to and from market and the farmers also used them to guard
the property. At one stage they were known as butcher dogs, as they
were used to haul carts for the butchers and cattle dealers.
Nowadays, these dogs are used by the police and by the army for
defense purposes.
With firm but not harsh training from an early age these dogs make
loyal loving companions. They are highly intelligent, and not a
dog that enjoys being locked away, they would much rather be with
and around their family.
Grooming-
the short coat is easy to look after, wash when needed and brush
now and then.
Exercise-
they love to work or exercise, they thrive on it, so make sure you
can give them plenty of time to keep them active and happy.
Health-
This breed is generally sound but some can suffer from hip and elbow
dysplasia, and some eyes problems. For Diet and other general dog
