The Pomeranian is known to have existed around the eighteenth century in Germany. They resemble the much larger sled-pulling Spitz type dogs from the Arctic Circle, from which they have descended.
It was deliberately bred down in size when toys and miniatures were very popular. Enjoying the company of human or canine companionship they are a natural extrovert. Making them one of the most popular Toy breeds.
They adore being pampered and petted but will also love to be active and playful. They are an affectionate and faithful little dog that make excellent companions.

Grooming- Daily brushing of the long double coat is needed to prevent matting. Monthly bathing is recommended. Shedding is once or twice a year. Clean eyes, ears and teeth regularly.

Exercise- regular plays and walks will keep them fit and happy

Health- This breed as like all toy breeds can suffer from patella luxation. Cesarean sections are possible if the female is small, will lose teeth if not well cared for.
